I’ve begun the process of launching a medical journal, and it’s an exciting yet demanding journey. To ensure everything is done properly, I met with officials from both the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and Pakistan Medical & Dental Council (PMDC) to understand the guidelines and standard operating procedures that need to be followed.
There’s a lot of groundwork involved, so I’ve broken it down into manageable steps with the goal of completing the entire process by the end of 2025, Insha’Allah.
The next step is to meet with the Press Registrar of Lahore Division to handle the declaration and No Objection Certificate (NOC) requirements. After that, I’ll finalize the journal’s name, followed by forming the editorial board and the advisory board.
Once the core team is in place, I plan to develop a dedicated website for the journal and proceed with applying for an International Standard Serial Number (ISSN). After that, I’ll focus on outreach and marketing to attract quality submissions and readership.
Once we’ve successfully published one or two issues, I’ll apply for HEC accreditation. While PMDC accreditation may take more time, securing HEC recognition will place us firmly on the right track toward long-term credibility and success.
